Born in 1977 in the small village of Bilgaon in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, Manoj Kumar Sharma faced numerous challenges during his childhood. Despite financial difficulties, he managed to pass his class IX and X exams in the third division. Although he faced setbacks in class XII, failing in all subjects except Seva Hindi literature, his determination ultimately led to his success.

Even after relocating to Delhi, Manoj Kumar Sharma encountered various challenges, resorting to odd jobs to support himself and his education. At one point, he drove a tempo and worked in a library, simultaneously offering dog-walking services for additional income. Despite sleeping on the streets, he persevered in his UPSC exam preparation.

Shraddha Joshi played a significant role in his life during this period. A native of Uttarakhand, she successfully cleared UPSC in her first attempt and is now an established IRS officer. While working in a Delhi library, Manoj interacted with notable figures such as Maxim Gorky, Abraham Lincoln, and Muktibodh, absorbing knowledge between his duties.

Manoj initially aspired to become an SDM but learned that to achieve the higher post of DM, he needed to clear the UPSC exam. This realization prompted him to start preparing for the civil service examination.

After four attempts, IPS Manojkumar Sharma successfully cleared the UPSC exam and joined the Maharashtra cadre in 2005. Currently serving as the Additional Commissioner of the Western Region in Mumbai, his story is one of resilience, determination, and ultimate success.
