Main Atal Hoon Movie Review: Pankaj Tripathi’s film lived up to expectations

Main Atal Hoon Movie Review: The story of Atal Bihari Vajpayee is really interesting. He was a very popular Prime Minister and is known for promoting peace worldwide. Even the people who didn’t always agree with him liked and respected him. He wrote poems that beautifully mix love and revolutionary ideas. The movie ‘Main Atal Hoon’ manages to tell his life story, which lasted 94 years, and his political career of 6 decades, in just 2 hours and 20 minutes. Making the movie was a tough job because even a small mistake could mess up the whole story. But three talented individuals successfully captured the most important parts of Vajpayee ji’s life and career in the film.

To tell this story, they used a style similar to documentaries instead of regular drama. In the beginning of the movie, they showed Vajpayee ji’s hard work and dedication in the RSS branches. The story quickly moves from Vajpayee ji learning a small lesson in speaking from his father in childhood to his experiences at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, including the impact of Hedgewar ji’s death. The film stops to focus on Atal ji’s love, creating a surprising moment for the audience. The chapter about Atal ji’s love with the princess is brief but is conveyed through a single song.

In the second half, Ravi Jadhav discusses the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Ram Mandir movement with Advani ji, Atal ji embracing the princess’s family, his candidacy for Prime Minister amid a break from politics, and events during his 13-month tenure, including the Pokhran nuclear test. The film covers a range of events, from the Lahore bus journey to scripting victory in the Kargil war. Despite missing some details, the film successfully introduces Atal, which is its main achievement. Packing so much into a 2-hour 20-minute film is noteworthy. Although some parts of the story are omitted, if the narrative is clear and reaches its conclusion, it’s considered a success.

More About Main Atal Hoon Movie Review

Main Atal Hoon” belongs entirely to Pankaj Tripathi, who fully dedicates himself to the character. Tripathi’s portrayal of Atal ji is so convincing that it never feels like he’s just imitating him. This performance establishes Pankaj Tripathi as an exceptional actor. Piyush Mishra fits well in the role of Vajpayee ji’s father. Ekta Kaul, portraying the princess, impressively maintains composure. However, the actors playing other characters like Advani ji, Indira ji, Deendayal Upadhyay, Sushma Swaraj, and Pramod Mahajan are only noted for resembling their real-life counterparts.
